Since 1987, Helen Doron Early English has run a series of teacher training programs to prepare candidates for the excitement and rewards of teaching the Helen Doron method.

Helen Doron Early English is serious about providing teachers with the highest level of expertise. With this in mind, teacher training courses are designed much like the Early English classes: they are fun, held with small groups in a responsive and engaging environment, and help to expand the trainees joy in teaching.

Training courses can run 5, 6, or 7 days, depending on location. All Helen Doron Early English teacher trainers are professionals, with proven competence and years of experience teaching the unique HDEE learning method to prospective candidates.

Prospective teachers must have an excellent grasp of spoken English and enjoy working with children. Candidates with previous experience in childcare are preferred. A teaching certificate, a background in education or a language certification are also good qualifications.

Training courses are conducted in two stages. First is a two day introduction and evaluation. Candidates have a chance to take a closer look at the materials and methodology while trainers can evaluate potential teachers for suitability. At this stage, both parties have a chance to decide if they are a good fit for each other.

Teacher candidates who are a good fit for Helen Doron move on to the second stage of training, learning the methodology, familiarizing themselves with the learning sets and teacher guides, and practicing lessons. Trainees who meet HDEE standards in practical demonstrations, written assignments and general attitude go on to qualify as fully fledged Helen Doron Early English teachers.

Training courses are kept small, so that trainees get personal attention and practical experience. All trainees receive teaching kits, including books and CDs; teacher guides, flashcards and other teaching aids; promotional tools like press files and media kits; and practical information on running a self-employed business.

Trainees must complete the course requirements in order to graduate. In addition to the course participation hours, a minimum of one hour prep time is required each evening, outside of class, to prepare for the next days lesson. A two to three page essay is also required to complete the course. Candidates must pass the practical demonstrations and submit a satisfactory essay in order to graduate.
